Our practice is began in Newark, N.J. in the 1950s when it was owned by Dr. Hy Baer--a collegue of Dr Noah Chivian's father--whom was also a dentist. So it has been a family tradition in many ways and goes a long way into explaining the company history associated with this practice. In 1961, with a newly minted degree in hand, Dr Chivian joined the Newark practice to join his mentor (Hy Baer). A few years later (1968) Hy Baer's son (Sandy Baer) joined the practice succeeding his father and continued the Baer/Chivian collaboration for over 30 years (until 2002 when Sandy retired). Amazingly, Dr Chivian has been at the same West Orange location since 1971. Following Sandy's retirement, enter Dr. Chik in 2005, fresh from receivng his advanced degree in endodontics, Dr Chivian and Chik decided to take their mentoring relationship--begun many years earlier--to the next level by becomming partners in the practice.

Dr. Noah Chivian graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dentisty in 1959 and later completed his graduate endodontics program at Temple University's School of Dentistry. Soon afterward, he opened a practice in Newark with a branch in West Orange, N.J. Dr. Chivian contiuned to teach at his alma maters--accepting a positon as adjunct professor of endodontics at Temple and currently holding a siimilar positon for the past 15 years at the University of Pennsylvania Dental School. He currently is an icon in the field and continues to lecture across the country in at least 25 states. Most recently Dr. Chivian has accepted another adjunct professor of endodontics position at the University of New Jersey School of Medicine.

Dr. Chik (Dr. Chikvashvili) received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Baltimore College of Dental Surgery at the University of Maryland. He completed his residency and received his post-graduate degree in endodontics from Boston University's Dental School. The two met while Dr Chiviian was Director of Dentistry at North Beth Israel Medical Center (NBIMC). A mentoring relationship developed that has flourished for years.

This mentoring relationship flourished and eventually led to them teaming up together in private practice while still maintaining various academic positions at local universities. It is clear that Dr Chik is following in his mentor's footsteps by holding the same directorship position as Director of Endodontics at the same school--Newark Beth Israel Medical Center (NBIMC). Interestingly Dr. Chivian's career has come full-circle from being son of a family dentist and transitioning from mentee to mentor to reaching the pinnacle of his field. It is his pleasure to team up with Dr Chik who brings new blood to the organization where the same families have come for generations. There is something special about being able to come to the same dental office and be taken care of by the staff that has warmly taken care of their families and relatives for years.

Dr Chivian continues to lecture both nationally and internationally. He has lectured to audiences in Argentina, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Greece, Holland, Israel, Japan, Mexico and Switzerland. Dr. Chivian is also involved in numerous professional organizations, having served as President of the Academy of Esthetic Dentistry (AAED) and American Association of Endodontists (AAE) and the AAE Foundation, a $20 million philanthropic organization. In 2003, he was honored with their highest accolade (Edward D. Coolidge award) for exemplary dedication to dentistry and endodontics.
